Hello to all visitors who come to this page and learn something about this game. This game can be extremely fun and healthy and a great way to pass time once you get the hang of it. My advice is to study everything you can here, so that you have a leg up when you actually decide to play.

Like anything else in Life, the more you do something, the better you get at it. Don't be discouraged if at first you have a hard time playing Gemstone IV. Everyone has difficulty getting the hang of this game at first. Once they actually do however, many of them become hooked on playing it for the rest of their Life. =)

No matter what skill you decide to train in for your character with this game, all of them must be trained in by using the Skill Goals Manager System located at the bottom of the screen when you log into the game.

The bottom of the screen with the words Skill Goals in blue. That must be clicked on with your mouse in order to enter into the system to train in the skills that you want to use both your character's Mental and Physical Training Points for. You only have a limited number of these points each level that your character reaches, so be sure to choose wisely if you want to get the best bang for your points. =)

Another way to access the Skill Goals Manager System in this game is to go to any INN that is located in any major city, and check in behind the front counter, and then click on the option that says ADJUST SKILL GOALS. That will also bring your character into the Skill Goals Manager System where you can use their Training Points there as well.

In this game, there are Secret Societies which you can join for your character. Some of these Secret Societies are good, such as Voln, and some of these Secret Societies are Evil, such as the Circle of Light. There are also Guild societies such as the Warriors Guild, Sorcerer's Guild, etc.

If you choose to go the Circle of Light route for your character, then be wary, because you do end up having to sell your character's soul to be a part of it. Not only that, but if you are caught speaking about the Circle of Light to other people in the game, then an assassin will be sent out to kill your character.

Each secret society comes with their own unique benefits. Different bonuses to your Attack Strength, your Defense, your Spells, your Stamina, etc. Also different combat techniques that can only be used if you are a member of one of these societies.

It is important to choose carefully if you decide to pick a Secret Society to join for your character, because you want it to try and match your character's profession and personality. =)

Another skill that you can train in with this game is called Spell Research. Training in the Spell Research skill gives your character access to any of the different spell groups that are a natural part of their profession. Each profession comes with their own base spell circles that contain the spells that are specifically available for that particular profession.

For Clerics, it's Major Spiritual Spell Research, Minor Spiritual Spell Research, and Cleric Spell Research that they have as the option for spell skills to train in.

For Sorcerers, it's Minor Elemental Spell Research, Minor Spiritual Spell Research, and Sorcerer Spell Research that they have as the option for spell skills to train in.

For Warriors, it's Minor Elemental Spell Research and Minor Spiritual Spell Research that they have as the option for spell skills to train in.

Another set of skills that you can train in with this game are the Magical Lores which help certain professions expand the capabilities of their spells. Different Lores help different professions.

There are four of these Lores in total.

1. Elemental

2. Spiritual

3. Sorcerous

4. Mental

Elemental Lores help any profession that has elemental magic as part of their spell circles. These include Wizards, Warriors, Bards, Rogues, and Sorcerers.

Spiritual Lores help any profession that has spiritual magic as part of their spell circles. These include Clerics, Empaths, Rangers, Warriors, Rogues, Sorcerers, and Paladins.

Mental Lores help any profession that have mental magic as a part of their spell circles. These Lores primarily help Clerics, Empaths, and Monks more than any other profession.

Training in these Lores for whichever one fits your profession could make the difference between your character's spells being as powerful as they could be or lacking in the kind of power they could have. Always make sure to take the time to study each Lore for yourself and each spell group that ties into it before choosing to train in the one that best fits the profession that you have chosen for your character to be. =)

Another skill that you can train in with this game is called Survival.

Training in the Survival skill gives your character the ability to withstand all different types of temperatures in the game better, to be able to survive during harsh weather conditions better, to have a better chance of successfully skinning animals and creatures that you hunt in the game, and the ability to take damage from certain forces of nature and other sources in the game.

This is a very well rounded skill and it is highly recommended for all professions. =)

Another skill that you can train in with this game is called Picking Pockets. Training in the skill Picking Pockets gives your character the ability to steal other player's money in the game without them being able to see you.

Obviously, the more you train in this skill, the better your character will be at it. However, it does come with a costly price.

If another player catches your character trying to steal from their pockets or from their clothing, there is a high possibility that if those player's character's are a higher level than your character, that they will become angry and decide to try and kill you for trying to steal from them.

So with using this skill, it's always a delicate balance. =)

Another skill that you can train in with this game is called Trading. Training in the Trading skill gives your character the advantage of being able to haggle prices down better whenever he/she is making a purchase from a store or building no matter what part of the world of Gemstone IV they are traveling through.

This skill comes in handy for saving money, and also for making it possible for making a profit off of your purchases by reselling what you purchase from these places to other players in the game for more than what you purchased them for. =)

Another skill that you can train in with this game is called First Aid. Training in First Aid gives your character the ability to heal him/herself on the go. With this skill, you can use wraps and other things to patch up your wounds and to stop the bleeding of your body long enough to make it back to town to see a healer. Besides that, training in First Aid also gives your character a better chance of successfully skinning the pelts and skins of animals and creatures because it increases your character's hand to eye coordination.

This skill can be very handy when it comes to being far away from civilization with your character and especially if they become wounded from hunting or in battle. =)
